It’s do or die for the Warhawks. Today is for the right to play in the post season and for a shot at the USFA championship. A victory today will most likely result in a match up with the Cleveland Cobras in a 1st round matchup next week. But today the task at hand is to defeat the division rivals the Pittsburgh Pride. Although the Warhawks lost a close one earlier this year 13 - 0, they’ve regrouped an are poised to defeat the crosstown foe for the first time in franchise history and earn a playoff birth.
Kick off is at 4:30pm at Plum Senior High School (900 Elicker Rd Pittsburgh, PA 15239).

The Warhawks came up big with clutch victory over the West Virginia Gladiators. Fantastic performances by QB Matt Kershey, WR Aaron Fever, Mark Blake, the entire Warhawk defense and a late kick By A.J. sealing the deal 17 - 14. We live to fight another day.

The Western PA Warhawks travel to Akron this week for one of the biggest games in their franchise history. A win this Sunday, that’s right the game has been moved to Sunday, will put the Warhawks on solid ground in the chase for the playoffs. Currently the Jagz have the same record (3-4) and are tied with the Warhawks for the last playoff spot.
When asked if the Defesne could keep up their impressive play Defesnive Coordinator Tom Beranyk responded. “If our defense plays consistent it’ll keep us in the game”. In the last 2 games the Nasty Warhawk D has forced 16 takeaways and shut out the Lackawanna Dynasty Offense for the first time in their history. Defense, however is only one third of the game and the other two phases are looking to step it up on Sunday and earn a chance to keep playing into late August.
The game is at 2PM and this one is for a playoff spot.

The (3 - 3) Warhawks hit the road and face the (5 - 1) Lackawanna Dynasty this week in New York. Both teams are looking to bounce back from disappointing losses last Saturday. The Warhawks are coming off of a heartbreaking divisional overtime loss, but they’ve regrouped and re-focused their attention and are treating every game like a playoff game. Head Coach Bernie Seep “Our backs are up against a wall and we control our own destiny.” Currently the Warhawks are on the outside looking in at the 7th seed and can mix things up by winning against other wild card contenders in the coming weeks.
If you can’t make the trip make sure to catch the Warhawks Live on Pittsburgh Sports Weekly.

Like many Warhawk games this one was close. The black and blue found themselves up 7 - 6 at halftime and seemed to be in control for most of the game.
A beautiful punt return by Aaron Fever put the Warhawks up 14 - 6. But the United came to play and mounted a scoring drive late in the game with a successful 2 point conversion to tie it up at 14 a piece.
With a few minutes left on the clock the Warhawks methodically marched down the field but a fluke play in the end-zone resulted in an interception for the United to send the game into overtime.
Heading into overtime the Warhawks won the toss and once again marched down the field. The United answered with a big interception near the 1 and started a drive that seemed to go on forever. A few first downs and some untimely penalties later the United found themselves knocking on the door. The Warhawks D held to the United to a 3rd and goal, but on a broken play the United QB zig zaged his way into the end-zone for the game winning score. Improving the United to 1-2 in the division and 2 - 4 for the season while the Warhawks fell to 1-2 in the division and 3-3 overall.
No question this was a tough loss for the Warhawks, but there were some good things that came out of the game. The defense forced 10 turnovers and the running game was very effective late in the game.
Looking to bounce back from a 2 game skid the Warhawks travel to Lackawanna New York for their 2nd game of their 3 game road trip.
